Comparative Analysis of the Farming Subventions in Less-favoured Areas (LFA) in the Middle-european Post-communistic Countries

Abstract:
Farming in less-favoured areas brings the farmers certain disadvantages, which are compensated
with LFA payments. The aim of this paper is a comparative analysis of these payments in
four middle-European post-communistic countries - the Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic,
Poland and Hungary. The paper is split into two sections. Firstly, there is described the LFA
payment system and compared its acquisition terms and amounts of its payments. The second
part deals with the impact of LFA payments on the economic results of the farmers. By the
connection of these sections the reader gains the comprehensive view of LFA payment problems
in the investigated countries of the European Union.
